I'm a theoretical nuclear physicist, and I think you are way off-track when you say that you are less skeptical of physicists than psychologists. If you drill down, I suspect you will find that the methodological crisis in (at least in some areas of) physics are as bad if not worse. It is very easy in subjects like this to hide the problems under layers of esoteric math. I think you have fallen prey to a form of Gell-Mann amnesia.
