I’ve been hearing claims from tech bubble people that Ketamine helps with learning (via neurogenesis). Strikes me as something similar to Psilocybin where people want a recreational drug to be good. Would love to hear a discussion on Ketamine!
Great episode. A topic I’d love to hear about is HRT—how everyone went off it after a study linked it to cancer risk, but now it seems like that study was flawed. Can you get to the bottom of it? Thanks!
Multiple HRT studies were not flawed; a number of shouty people allied with vested interest groups (Hallo there Dr Newson) did not like the link with breast cancer and have sttacked the evidence relentlessly. Sadly most Science journalists have no Science background and seem incapable of distinguishing evidence from rhetoric.
Thanks for a super interesting episode as always! I was surprised that you didn’t mention the Salem Witch Trials as an example of MPI, I would’ve thought the witch trials probably constituting the most popular historical example but maybe I’m mistaken. Do you know if the Salem Witch Trials are considered an example of MPI? Thanks again for an excellent podcast! Keep them coming!
Whilst COVID was as genuine illness, the response shared features with mass hysteria.
The vast majority of people were too young to be at significant risk; mask wearing has no evidence base for COVID; the consequences of Lockdown plausibly have and will do more damage than alternative strategies.
